Jackie Oates is a phenomenon in the exploding folk-pop scene in the UK today. Originally a member of The Unthanks (then Rachel Unthank & The Winterset), she has since carved out a solo career which has made her much in demand. She has toured as support to folk-pop star Seth Lakeman and is a member of the all-star multi-cultural folk band Imagined Village alongside Eliza Carthy, Chris Wood and Martin Carthy.

In St Barts Church...I have heard...The sweetest songs of praise...
I premièred a commissioned song last night in the beautiful Wiltshire Town of Corsham...St Bartholomew's Church was the venue for the celebration of 50 years of The Corsham Civic Society....The song called 'Corsham Town' expresses my feelings about the place and takes the listener on a journey through some of the town's history and it's famous residents...It was enthusiastically received by all and it was a privilege to play it in St Bartholomew's. I would pass the Church when I attended lectures for my Song-writing Masters and it was an honour to play it there.
The evening was called 'Corsham in Music', it featured The Jubilee Singers, The Jubilee String Quartet and The Choir of St Bartholomew's Church. They sang and performed pieces by composers from the town or related to it...I was honoured to be amongst such notable company as George Gay, Harry Spackman, Sir Michael Tippett, Wyndham Thomas and Nicholas Keyworth, who premièred a scene from his collaborative work 'Revolution' featuring Daniel Falber, soloist. It was a wonderful celebration of Corsham music which was enjoyed by all.
I am playing at The Pound in Corsham on Friday the 11th April 2014 and I am looking forward to it already!...Thank you to The Corsham Civic Society for the commission and to Mr Michael Rumsey for your hospitality, support and belief in me and my song-writing.

Two gigs in two days at two Arts venues in Southampton...
Played on Saturday at The Art House Cafe in the centre of Southampton...It was an informal 'buskers' show...I have played there many times before and it is a great place to try out new songs...Many thanks for the donations in my busking hat...which is just out of shot!
At The Art House...dreaming of Southampton Football Club walloping Hull City and then going up to THIRD in the Premier League....Hold on a minute dreams do come true!!!...http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/tables
On Sunday it was a sunny stroll along to The Woolhouse ( originally built as a medieval storage space for the exportation of wool to Italy in the 14th Century) on Southampton's waterfront... It was used for many years as The Maritime Museum but has now been taken on by Element Arts...http://elementarts.co.uk/ as an Art exhibition and performance space...It was a joy to play in a building with such beautiful acoustics and friendly people...Many thanks again to everyone who came along and listened to my songs and had a chat afterwards...Viva La Woolhouse!!
At The Woolhouse... 'Ladles and Jellyspoons' for one afternoon only it's....
