Three Monkeys...

I played a great gig the other night at The Art House in Southampton...Its a not for profit arts cafe where they have loads of interesting things going on...The night I played at is called "Three Monkeys" and is a evening where three Singer/Songwriters get together and take it in turns to play a song each...Its like The Songwriters circle on BBC 4 but without the Cameras! I had a grand time and met some lovely people there...Hello Calv...Here is a link to The Art House
And also a link to Steve Lowis who is a fine Singer/Songwriter himself. He is the organiser of the evening...

New photos and songs at Reverbnation

New songs and photos on my Reverbnation page...

The first song..."St Michael's Square" comes from the heart of Old Southampton when me and my
partner first met I took her all around the streets of Southampton on a romantic spring evening stroll ( she is from Wales)

"Sweet Lorna June" inspired by Pentangle ( although sounds nothing like them) and my lovely Welsh Love...

"Falling Feathers" was written on my stairs whilst looking at a painting on the wall of a Native American...
He whispered the words and melody in my ear as I sat and played...

click the Reverbnation button on the top left to hear them...

I have found the secret to happiness......Recording Happiness that is!

I bought a Behringer B2 Pro Microphone a while ago and was really pleased with it. But last night I plugged it into my Art Pre amp and was made a very happy man by the quality of the sound. I made a rough recording of a new song "Falling Feathers" which was inspired by a Native American painting on the wall of my stairway.
Here's a photo of the microphone, a little geeky but still....

And a photo I like of a Native American in full headress....

Smiley Culture R.I.P

It is with sadness that I post these thoughts about Smiley Culture, known internationally for his hits "Police Officer" and "Cockney Translator". He "allegedly" stabbed himself while he was in police custody in his own home on the 15th March. A 1000 strong crowd has marched to highlight not only the tragedy of his death but to draw attention to the amount of people who have died in Suspicious circumstances whilst in Police custody. There is a facebook group set up here....www.facebook.com/Campaign4Justice4SmileyCulture , In my youth I regularly blasted "Police Officer" from my bedroom window and was amazed the first time I saw him on Top Of The Pops! Bless Up "Smiley Culture"

Time on my hands.....

Time I updated this blog more like it! Just noticed that I haven't posted anything in nearly a year.... I have no excuse other than only being able to concentrate on only one thing at a time...a man thing I guess. I will thank my friend Richard Humby at work for inspiring me to pull me finger out and update more regularly...
I'm in the process of booking gigs for the Summer and am looking forward to playing on The Isle of Wight Ferry again this year..I'm playing two return journeys so if you see a tired sweaty bloke called Jim with a guitar on the ferry this year chances are it will be me....As soon as I have new live dates I will post them.......

Toodle pip...Jim
